Resumen

GARCIA, Felipe E. et al. Partner violence, social support and psychological well-being in young adults. Ajayu [online]. 2014, vol.12, n.2, pp.246-265. ISSN 2077-2161.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of different types of partner violence and social support on psychological well-being in young adults. In addition, the mediating or moderating nature of social support between partner violence and psychological well-being is analyzed. To this end, 148 college students in the province of Concepción, Chile (66.3% women), aged between 18 and 37 years were surveyed. They applied the Survey CUVINO-R to measure partner violence, the Scale MOS for Perceived Social Support and Psychological Well-being Scale of Ryff. The data reveal that the humiliation and violence are negative predictors of well-being; however, the emotional support and violence detachment are positive predictors. Furthermore, emotional support moderates the relationship between humiliation and psychological well-being.

Palabras clave : couples violence; domestic violence; early adulthood; intimate violence; resilience.
