GARCIA, Felipe E.  y  ILABACA MARTINEZ, Daniela. COUPLE BREAKUP, COPING AND PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING IN YOUNG ADULTS. Ajayu [online]. 2013, vol.11, n.2, pp.42-60. ISSN 2077-2161.

The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between coping strategies used at the breakup of a relationship and psychological well-being. Participated 227 people, men and women, between 18 and 35 years living in the city of Concepcion, Chile, and had finished a steady relationship in the last twelve months. Coping strategies were assessed with the Coping Strategies Inventory (CSI) and psychological well-being with Psychological Well-Being Scales (PWBS) adapted by Diaz. The results show a positive relationship between avoidant coping strategies, seeking social support and emotional expression with psychological well-being, in addition, there is a negative relationship of self-criticism and wishful thinking with the well-being dimension called positive relationships with others.

Palabras clave : couple breakup; coping strategies; psychological well-being; young adults.
