Abstract

This study had as aim analyze the influence of the emotional expression written on the confrontation of the pain in patients of cancer. The investigation was raised from a quantitative orientation focused on an experimental design of group control with post test. The participants were 150 persons of both sexes between 20 and 55 years, of Bolivian nationality diagnosed with the disease of the cancer that they were present at the Working Hospital, Hospital of Clinics and Clinic of the Social University Insurance of the city of La Paz. The used instruments were the Questionnaire of Confrontation of the Pain CAD, the Generic Questionnaire of Health SF-36 and the Visual Analogical Scale EVE.The opposing information was analyzed by the Program SPSS, version 15.0, was in use as statisticians the analysis of variance Anova and the coefficient of Pearson’s correlation. The principal results reveal that the emotional written expression had an important impact on the confrontation of the pain in patients with cancer, being the major influence in the increase of utilization of strategies of confrontation as the search of social and emotional support of this type of patients. Another important finding was to demonstrate that the emotional written expression affects positively on some aspects of the valuation of the health since is the perception of the corporal pain and the social role. One found also that the different cultures and religious beliefs in a multiethnic country as Bolivia, affect significantly in the way how the patients confront the disease. Finally the results showed that the demographic variables of kind and age do not seem to have a significant effect on the utilization of strategies of confrontation of the pain.
