ABSTRACT Parent - child relationships are considered one of the most important foundations in the integral development of all human beings. The study of different cognitive factors that could be determinants in the course of parent - child relationships, are getting more interest amongst psychology. In this case, self efficacy, as a meditational factor between thought and action, was studied to associate filial behaviors to self efficacy beliefs. The current investigation indicated perceived filial self efficacy and filial relationship levels in 280 adolescents. Afterwards, a correlation among both variables was made, obtaining a high correspondence between the perceived ability of adolescents to relate with their parents and the bonds of communication, support, and hostility and rejection established inside family environment.
