Rev. Inv. Inf. Sal. [online]. 2023, vol.18, n.45, pp.117-124. ISSN 2075-6194. https://doi.org/10.52428/20756208.v18i45.1038.
The recent International Conference on Editorial Management and Health Research at the Universidad del Valle emphasized the relevance of academic and scientific events, especially the shift towards virtual events due to the pandemic. These events provide valuable opportunities to learn, network professionally and improve skills. It focused on editorial management, indexing and publication of articles, strengthening the university research structure and promoting quality in the production and dissemination of works. The impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on research and editorial management was discussed, highlighting its potential to improve processes, although concerns were raised about its exclusive use for bureaucratic tasks and its impact on human creativity. Plagiarism was another crucial topic, identifying the diversity of ways in which it manifests itself and highlighting the importance of detection through AI programs. Obstacles faced by faculty researchers, such as lack of time and institutional support, were discussed, proposing solutions such as reducing teaching load and providing more administrative support and research training opportunities. Finally, the role of university publishers and the importance of publishing in indexed journals to increase the visibility and credibility of research was emphasized, highlighting that researchers’ understanding of indexing improves the probability of producing high-quality work.
