Abstract
VARGAS MIRANDA, Camila Daniela and TORREZ CALLISAYA, Mario Martin. Bolivia’s Productive Structure: Identification of the Sectoral Linkages in Economic Activities through the Input-Output Matrix. rlde [online]. 2024, n.42, pp.43-75. Epub Dec 30, 2024. ISSN 2074-4706. https://doi.org/10.35319/lajed.202442543.
This article analyses Bolivia's Input-Output Table, identifying sectoral linkages using two methods: Chenery and Watanabe's (1958) direct linkages and Norregaard Rasmussen (1956) total linkages. The production structure consists of 35 activities. The analysis describes the productive chain, grouping the economic activities based on intermediate consumption and the destination of their production. For 2014, four groups were identified according to their direct linkages. In the total linkages methodology, seven key activities, seven strategic, eleven drivers and ten independent activities were identified. These results reflect the country’s production structure. The Input-Output Table is the main tool for this analysis.
The results would not change significantly with a more up-to-date Input-Output Table, due to the characteristics of the tool, which has a fixed base year. However, relevant results are obtained on the characteristics of economic activities and their relationship, allowing for a more objective analysis.
