Abstract

GEA-IZQUIERDO, Enrique. Pneumonía mortality in Spain. J. Selva Andina Res. Soc. [online]. 2013, vol.4, n.1, pp.42-47. ISSN 2072-9294.

Pneumonia is a respiratory disease and the leading killer of children under five years worldwide. The aim of the study is to describe pneumonia mortality in Spain and period 1992-2001. The results of mortality are expressed by sex (number of deaths, mean age at death, crude rates per 100,000 population, age-standardized rates per 100,000 European standard population) and age groups (rate per 100,000 births). In Spain the mortality trend at the indicated period is relatively stable, with less value in women; showing in both sexes relevant mortality rates in the age group <1 year.

Keywords : Epidemiology; Pneumonia; mortality; Spain; period 1992-2001.
