Abstract

CUPERTINO DE SOUZA, Débora Mária  and  MARA-MUSSURY, Rosilda. Evaluation of the effect deterrente of vegetable extracts on Papilio thoas brasiliensis (Lepidoptera: Papilionidae) Rothschild & Jordan, 1906. J. Selva Andina Res. Soc. [online]. 2010, vol.1, n.1, pp.50-56. ISSN 2072-9294.

Deterrent effect evaluation of vegetal extracts on Papilio thoas brasiliensis (Lepidoptera: Papilionidae) Rothschild & Jordan (1906). The phytotoxicity of chemical inseticidal on other aimless organisms and the increase on the pesticides cost required the necessity of looking for biodegradable and selected products. In this present work, it was evaluated the deterrent effect of extracts from medicinal species: Atropa belladonna L. (belladonna); Azadirachta indica A. Juss. (neem); Mikania glomerata Spreng. (guaco); Symphytum officínale L. (comfrey); Ruta graveolens L. (rue) on P. thoas brasiliensis. All aqueous extracts presented a deterrent effect; neem and comfrey extracts presented 100% of deterrence, belladonna 97.6%, guaco 86.3% and rue 82.1%. So, the use of aqueous extracts is recommended since they present a low environmental impact and they are also viable for their usage.

Keywords : Phytotoxicity; biodegradable; medicinal plants.
