ffective-romantic bonds are of utmost importance in the construction of the individual’s personality; however, they are not exempt from presenting harmful behaviors, currently, thanks to the emergence of new media these actions move from the physical to the virtual plane, favoring the emergence of Cyber Dating Violence (CDV). Thus, the objective of this research was to describe and analyze this phenomenon and some of the factors associated with the problem in a sample of 589 young university students, where gender roles, myths of romantic love, dependence and CDV were evaluated through the CDAQ scales, Gender Roles Scale, Romantic Love Scale and Love Addiction Scale. From the descriptive, inferential, correlational and linear regression analyses performed, a predominance of dichotomous gender beliefs and idealization of love by men was evidenced. On the other hand, a positive association was found, in both subsamples, between the idealization of love, dependence and CDV behaviors, and a relationship between control and direct aggression, both committed and suffered. In conclusion, the data obtained suggest that cyber dating violence is a bidirectional phenomenon, which is related to the myths of romantic love and dependence.
