Abstract Critical thinking is one of the fundamental competencies of every student, especially those who are in higher education developing thinking outside of the everyday and traditional thinking. The objective of this article is to determine the level of critical thinking in university students of Philosophy courses at a prívate university in Lima during the year 2020. Method: The type of research was basic whose design was descriptive, not experimental. 124 students were evaluated through the Zaldivar Critical Thinking questionnaire (2010). Result: The students as a whole reached 44.4% at the high level and 55.6% at the average level of critical thinking. Conclusión: It is possible to develop academic skills in students who have not been used to remote teaching, as long as the didactic actions are planned making good use of virtual elements.
