Abstract The objective of the study was to know the performance of a group of elementary school students from the Arica and Parinacota región of Chile, in the variables verbal comprehension Índex (CV), working memory Índex (MT), speed index of processing (VP), and reading comprehension (CL). The design used was cross-sectional and the scope correlational. The sample was made up of two hundred and thirty-one individuáis. The reading comprehension and text production test (CL-PT) and the WISC-V (Chilean versión) were used. Results: the group of men had a better performance in the CL variable than that of women; and in the comparison by geographic location, better performance is observed in the CV and VP variables in favor of the urban group.
