Abstract

MORRISON, Rodolfo. Occupational Therapy. An interpretation from Eleanor Clarke Slagle. Fides Et Ratio [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.21, pp.103-126. ISSN 2071-081X.

Abstract Occupational Therapy is a relatively new profession in different countries in Latin America, but it has more than hundred years of development in northern countries, such as the United States and Canadá. Therefore, it can be understood from different perspectives and points of view. The foUowing writing aims to make an interpretation regarding the conceptualizations that Eleanor Clarke Slagle (1870-1942), a pioneer of the discipline, described about Occupational Therapy. To do this, a general review is made on the definition of the discipline from current and other historical documents, to then review original Slagle documents. Thus, it realizes the possible validity of different disciplinary concepts that could be a contribution to the contemporary practice of the profession today.
