Abstract The objective of this study is to conduct a critical evaluation and determine the perspectives of the Pension System in Bolivia, specifically referring to retirement benefits. This evaluation is carried out in light of the financial results achieved in the last two decades and in a context of post international financial The document begins by explaining the conditions prevailing at an international level at the time of the implementation of the Individual Capitalization retirement model in Bolivia. The article then continues on how context radically changed producing its effects in the national economy and negatively affecting the investment of Pension Funds. It follows with a brief analysis of the perspectives, and finally evaluates the main conditioning factors that limit a structural change in the System.
