ABSTRACT: This article deals with the legal matrimonial property regime applicable in Ecuador, known as "sociedad conyugal". In particular, it analysis the rules referred to the composition of the assets as well as the regulation of the administration and dissolution and liquidation of the "sociedad conyugal". Alongside this, a reference is made to the function of matrimonial property agreements in regards to that matrimonial property regime.
