Abstract

This paper analyzes the solutions containing in United Nations Convention on international contract totally or partially maritime goods, commonly known as the Rotterdam Rules on one of the most emblematic issues right nowin international maritime transport.We refertothe problems of the effectiveness of arbitration agreements in the field of maritime law basically because of the special features thatsurround this area of international trade. It is therefore necessary to point out the existence of a plurality of normative sources susceptible to address the issues today. It is also essential to analyze the regulation contained regard to existing international normative instruments emphasizing also the disparity of solutions offered by different state systems at the level of comparative law.
