Abstract

MEDINA PABON, Juan Enrique. LEGAL EFFECTS OFTHE DISSOLUTION OFA MARRIAGE FOROTHERS FOREIGN COUNTRIES. Rev. Bol. Der. [online]. 2014, n.17, pp.114-147. ISSN 2070-8157.

ABSTRACT:While a marriage celebrated in a foreign country, is accepted by other states without major opposition and few formalities; the dissolution of a marriage performed under the Law of one country, requires the exequatur of the recipient country in order to be formally adopted. So, being the marital status not divisible and the dissolution of the marriage being accepted by some places and not by others, all this results in "schizoid" legal personal iti es, socially pathological and harmful for the ex-spouses and family members; therefore, it is required a uniform, effective an easy to apply remedy, such as the one proposed in this paper.

Keywords : Civil status; civil registry; divorce; marriage annulations; personal law; personal statute; exequatur; legal status; legal relationship; private international law.
