Abstract This research provides an analysis of the discursive and iconographic elements in two children's stories that are usually employed in preschool. The purpose of the study moved to glimpse encrypted messages in the content of the stories and images illustrating the text, through a qualitative methodology using the technique of discourse analysis based on the educational approach non-sexist perspective. The findings unveiled in children's stories remains an androcentric conception framing the subordination of the female to the male which has allowed understand how gender identities are constructed from childhood establishing a naturalized reality. However, the books may have the opportunity to represent parallel and not just as a simple destination caricatured realities.
