Abstract The deep political changes that have been happening in Venezuela since the year 1999 demand from the educational system, particularly the University system, a group of actions linked to new forms of learning, discussing, communicating, valorizing and connecting with a reality that looks paths for a more egalitarian, democratic and solidarity society. In these reflections we go forward to a comprehensive approach to the way the Latinamerican University appears and which are some of the conflicts and tensions that have mediated its capacity to respond. We discuss the necessity to overeóme those problems to aehieve the proposal of an emaneipatory University where we set a series of challenges that are necessary to confront in order to promote the generation of a different form of assuming the theory-practice relation, where the knowledge's process is considérate a process characterized for the equals' dialogue, as a result the reflection and the construction of knowledge get Consolidated as a social and political issue, inside of the ambit of a deeply human daily work. Some of those challenges are the compromise to the construction of a new conception of citizenship, the realization in the practice of a libertarían education and an in-action Ínvestigation model that understands the role of the University as a publie good, inside of the role of "Estado Docente", that allows to support in the necessary processes of transformation and emancipation that are a legitímate aspiration of a society that fights for being the protagonist of its own destiny.
