Abstract

Literacy is a concept and a social practice that varies depending on the specific cultural and technological context of each historical period. Therefore, since at least two decades various experts, groups, associations and educational specialists claim the need for new literacies are incorporated into the educational system. Literacies well focused on the acquisition of skills production and analysis of audiovisual language, mastering the use of resources and computer languages, or in the development of research skills, selection and reconstruction of information. The objective of this chapter is to comment the new literacies, assuming the existence of two multi-dimensions of literacy: the multilingual and multimodal.
