Resumen

RIECHMANN, Jorge. The eco-socialist critique of capitalism. Rev. de Inv. Educ. [online]. 2013, vol.6, n.3, pp.137-180. ISSN 1997-4043.

ABSTRACT We must find the fundamental cause of the devastating ecological crisis in the subjugation of nature to the imperatives of capital accumulation. The operational dynamics of capitalism leads to poor design of the technosphere (for which it is proposed as a "remedy" the principle of biomimicry) and a problem of excessive expansion of human systems (against which suggests self-containment in the form of generalized principle of demand management). Building an eco-socialist mode of production would go from economic activity defined as production and consumption of commodities and services in the context of commercial expansion, to economic activity understood as the satisfaction of human needs with the minimum of social work required and a framework of ecological sustainability. In the text the plausibility of a "natural capitalism" is questioned and eco-socialist transformation pathways are explored.

Palabras clave : capitalism, productivism; technosphere; sustainability; biomimicry; industrial ecology; cleaner production; natural capital; market problems; metabolism; ecosocialism.
