Abstract

HOUDIN GOMEZ, Celeste. Violencia en las instituciones educativas. Un problema complejo: Violence in educational institutes. A complex problem. Rev. de Inv. Educ. [online]. 2013, vol.6, n.2, pp.85-99. ISSN 1997-4043.

This article deals with the violence at educational centers, where the aggressors are the directors or the teachers. This violence is present in almost any country and our region is no exception. The Special Reporter of the United Nations talks about a series of further reports about this problem, which continues despite of laws and protective measures in our countries. This type of violence is often made invisible, negated, and minimized in two central areas, one of them being the injury of the victim and his/her family, and the other one the social and cultural damage, including education politics that ought to create a secure space at school and that ought to prevent adults from converting themselves into aggressors. The incidents of violence and abuse damage the education system. This article also suggests some strategies to prevent violence from a gender and rights perspective, basing itself on examples of successful practices in educational communities in Paraguay.

Keywords : Educational institute; violence; suitable intervention.
