Resumo

This arricie primarily exposes the historie structure of the civic education, highlighting its functional nature, which served to the interest of the hegemonic block of power. This way, it is explained how the civic education is constituted as a one of the most important tools to keep classist economic, political and social economic systems. Another of the highlighted topics is that the auricular structure of the civic education did not involve, in general, an appropriate knowledge dialogue: this means that not enough importance has been given to the formative needs in relation to the civic education. On the contrary, several ideological impostures with a clear orientation took place: training of citizens that behave reproducing passively, obedient and faithful the prevailing rules. In light of this situation, a civic education from a critical point of view is suggested. This point of view tries to contribute to the education of citizens that respond to the main interests, needs and real motivation of the society, especially within the current situation in which several Latín American countries go through social transformatíon processes that require the contributíon and strengthening of a non-traditíonal civic education. Thus, a different perspective in which dialogue is the main source of nourishment and that contributes to vitalize social changes needs to be used.
