ABSTRACT This work offers a general vision about aspects that form the written expression, the main directions and the assumptions that comes from textual linguistics. Besides it establishes the communicative and pragmatics conceptions of Teun A. Van Dijk, the text as a significant unit and its importance of the basic competences of the written expression.
