Abstract

At the present time, there is a reaction to a process of knowledge accumulation that responds to research models that have legitimized power structures which, at its turn, have perpetuated unsolved conflicts, in particular, in our latin american society. This paper proposes an alternative research framework placed in a critical and emancipator vision, setting up a series of elements which enable to emerge a different way to assume the relationship between theory and practice, considering knowledge as a process marked by dialogue between equals, so the thinking and knowledge construction becomes a social fact, within the scope of an educational work of profound humanity. This way of conceiving the researchleads to the formation of democratic values and, therefore, to anewconception of citizenship. In this proposal, the investigator is seen as a social and historical human been, committed with ethical and political aspirations. We believe that the implementation of a transforming and participative action-research model, where critics and reflexivity are essential parts of it, can support the necessary change and emancipation processes, a legit aspiration of a society struggling to be protagonist of his own destiny.
