Abstract

MALDONADO APAZA, Gabriela  and  VALENCIA CAMACHO, Shirley Carolina. Impact of digital tools on the sector of non-profit organizations that help less-favored sector of society. Perspectivas [online]. 2022, n.50, pp.31-58.  Epub Nov 31, 2022. ISSN 1994-3733.

The digital age, where a large part of society has access to an almost infinite amount of information; the way companies work and people relate to each other has evolved. To have a presence in the market, today, it is a requirement that companies have a digital presence. For this reason, it is essential that organizations that help less favored sectors promote with these tools, not only to improve their positioning, but also to show the positive changes they make to society. In this way you can get more people to identify with your missions and be encouraged to actively participate in them

Thus, Habitat for Humanity Bolivia is a non-profit organization with 34 years of experience in the country. However, it is part of a large network that is found in more than 70 countries around the world. Habitat for Humanity International is a non-governmental and non-profit organization founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller and his wife Linda. The purpose of these organizations is to build housing for people with limited resources. Its activities in Bolivia began in 1985, where it currently works with five departments that are La Paz, Oruro, Cochabamba, Tarija and Santa Cruz. In 2018, the headquarters of the national office was changed from the city of Cochabamba to the city of La Paz. Since its creation to date, they have carried out different activities, such as financial education and healthy housing workshops, projects for the improvement, expansion and / or renovation of social housing, in addition to the program (TEC) “We wait for you at home” where they seek to improve the quality of life of children and young people with cancer recover from their treatment.

There are several projects that Habitat for Humanity Bolivia carried out throughout its history. However, to date its presence as an impact has been reduced. It is for this reason, the importance of having a digital presence, because despite having a great work history it is not well known or is even confused with other associations.

With the application of digital tools, not only will the activities it carries out be disseminated, but it will also attract resources to support various projects, including support for entrepreneurship by young people in vulnerable situations.

The digital communication model proposed in the research can be applied to all non-profit institutions that seek to disseminate their activities to support the development of entrepreneurship in less favored sectors of society.
