Abstract

AYAVIRI NINA, Victor Dante  and  ZAMORA ECHENIQUE, Gerardo. Measurement of efficiency in universities. A methological proposal. Perspectivas [online]. 2016, n.37, pp.7-22. ISSN 1994-3733.

This paper presents a methodology for measuring efficiency in Universities. To do this, theoretical aspects - which allow understanding the study complexity of these production units - are described; at the same time, this approach contributes to the formulation of the measurement model to be applied. Moreover, the production function originally proposed by Chames, Cooper and Rhodes, known as the CCR model and BCC model - originated in the article Banker, Chames and Cooper - is drawn up, consequently the application of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The research provides empirical evidence that supports a methodology for higher education and, from a methodological point of view, the introduction of technical and production restrictions in Data Envelopment Analy sis provides substantial robustness of analysis and results, and consequently, will allow incorporating and raise criteria to improving the performance in these productive units.

Keywords : Efficiency; public universities; Data Envelopment Analysis; models.
