Abstract

The research aims to present three local economic development experiences in the area of Latin America, this from the point of view of participation and the role of local actors in development. It is considered three countries: Peru, Chile, and Bolivia for this purpose. Since the eighties becomes relevant the participation of local stakeholders in economic development through the decisions making, and also the implementation of local policies. The concept of participation, integration and initiatives constitute a new alternative to achieve local economic development, without neglecting the characteristics of globalization and the outcomes it presupposes. The analysis is performed based on the existing data and information for each case. Once described the experience it will be presented the findings of the research, with a particular reference to the importance and the role of both; actors and local agents in the local development.
