Abstract

GUTIERREZ ANDRADE, Osvaldo Walter. U.S. crisis and the future of the dollar. Perspectivas [online]. 2011, n.28, pp.113-136. ISSN 1994-3733.

Under the general terms of an almost certain recession in the U.S., a permanent deep financial instability stock falls and the continuing threat of ruins bank looming menace that country. Consequently, crises are displayed, not only at a social or consumer level, but also severe adjustments at the monetary level. In this scenario, the fall in U.S. mean the end of the dollar standard, and generate a globalization of the crisis in which no capitalist state could survive. For that reason, paradoxically, developed and developing countries should make this not happen. The dollar has lost its global reign, but no other currency is seen as a replacement and in situations of crisis it is the most sought shelter.

Keywords : economic crisis; public debt; dollar.
