Abstract

DAVIO, Marisa. The sword and the word: revolutionaries and royalists during the war in Charcas (1809-1813). Tinkazos [online]. 2015, vol.18, n.38, pp.109-126. ISSN 1990-7451.

In this article the author analyses the speeches made by leaders and officers of the royalist and revolutionary factions to rally the troops and win the support of the population involved in the war in Charcas. This took place in the conflict-ridden political context resulting from the 1808 crisis in the Spanish monarchy and the revolutionary process that began with the uprisings in Chuquisaca and La Paz from 1809 to 1813.
