Abstract

MANSILLA, H. C. F.; GAMBOA ROCABADO, Franco  and  ALCOCER PADILLA, Pamela. The evanescent nation in Bolivia: Aclash between globalization and collective identities. Tinkazos [online]. 2014, vol.17, n.35, pp.1-1. ISSN 1990-7451.

This article analyses some of the conflicts and dilemmas that Bolivian society is experiencing. Emphasis is placed on the debate between universal principles (derived from rationalism and the modern Western tradition) and particularist values (those coming from the pre-modern cultural heritage). The country has almost always been divided into two parts: that fraction with indigenous origins and values, against the other fragment of Bolivia that aspires to be part of the world context characterized by Western modernity

Keywords : conflicts; nation-state; collective identities; globalization; modernity; particularism; universalism.
