Abstract

MARIEN, Nele. Prospects for Bolivia’s forests in the context of climate change negotiations. Tinkazos [online]. 2013, vol.16, n.34, pp.37-50. ISSN 1990-7451.

In the case of Bolivia, the importance of supporting a reduction in emissions of greenhouse gases and controlling the loss of forests has given rise to the implementation of a Mitigation and Adaptation Mechanism for Integrated and Sustainable Forest Management, as an alternative to the international response known as REDD. In this article, the author discusses the virtues of this Mechanism and how it clashes with the policies being implemented in the country.

Keywords : forests; deforestation; ecological equilibrium; water resources; land use; carbon markets.
