Abstract

TORREZ, Yuri F.. A review of PIEB’s studies Young people as the subjects and objects of research. Tinkazos [online]. 2013, vol.16, n.33, pp.113-128. ISSN 1990-7451.

This article analyses the main contributions made by the research sponsored by PIEB on young people. The author finds that the studies have established connections with important processes taking place in the country, holding up an “academic mirror” to reality. The author’s reading identifies an “epistemic rupture,” as getting close to “new social/young research subjects” required the “invention” of theoretical/methodological strategies, since the traditional ones proved to be inadequate for studying the emerging realities of young people.

Keywords : young people; research; social science; youth cultures; politics and democracy; citizenship; Bolivia; academic publications.
