Abstract

LEMA, Ana María. Old actors, new problems? New actors, old problems?: Evaluation of research on lowland indigenous peoples. Tinkazos [online]. 2012, vol.15, n.31, pp.79-97. ISSN 1990-7451.

This article proposes to show how research published by the PIEB on the lowland indigenous peasant thematic set out to identify former social actors − rendered invisible both by society and by the academic world − and others that are new, in the sense of today having organisations that represent them. Such research is devoted to studying indigenous people in situations of adaptation or conflicts created by longstanding problems (landholding, rights, political participation) and new ones (handling of natural resources, territorial management)

Keywords : research; lowland indigenous people and peasants; landholding; indigenous rights; natural resources; territorial management.
