    Abstract

GONZALEZ, Sergio  and  OVANDO, Cristián. The golden decade of diplomatic relations between Chile and Bolivia. Tinkazos [online]. 2011, vol.14, n.29, pp. 87-108. ISSN 1990-7451.

This article looks at relations between Chile and Bolivia in the 1950s, a period described as the “golden age” of bilateral relations. Specifically, it analyzes the “integration convoys” between Oruro and Iquique in 1958. The international context and diplomatic relations between the two countries enabled a cultural integration and cross-border economy project to take shape. The movement towards partnership between the two cities was frustrated by the bilateral diplomatic clashes that marked the start of the 1960s, preventing the emergence of a Cross-Border Region.

Keywords : Bolivia-Chile diplomatic relations; bilateral relations; cross-border cooperation; economic integration; regional integration.
