    Resumo

GISSELQUIST, Rachel M.. Ethnicity, class and change in the Bolivian political party system. Tinkazos [online]. 2010, vol.13, suppl.1, pp. 141-165. ISSN 1990-7451.

As part of her research on social cleavages and political parties in countries undergoing a democratization process, the author of this article looks at the case of Bolivia. The article argues that the success of the “indigenous parties” could be part of a process of “ethnification” of the political party system, where actors are increasingly defining themselves in ethnic terms rather than as members of social classes or groups.

Palavras-chave : Political parties; indigenous parties; political system; ethnification; democracy; political stability; governance.
