The pillars of the “neoliberal” state structure are crumbling fast. It is this crisis that explains the political and social conflicts in the country in 2003. In response to this - earlier rather than later, says Álvaro García Linera - there will be a lasting recomposition of forces, beliefs and institutions that will mark the start of a new period of state stability. This description of the crisis in the state leads to a dialogue with Sonia Montano and Carlos Hugo Molina. Following their valuable discussion is a fourth contribution, by Jorge Lazarte, who writes about the conflict between the state of the “demos” and the state of the “ethnos”.
