ZENZANO FERRUFINO, FERNANDO; LARA PEREZ, CARLOS ALBERTO and AYALA BACINELLO, SILVANA. CASE REPORT: SURGICAL MANAGEMENT: BI-ILIAC ANEURYSM. Rev Cient Cienc Méd [online]. 2025, vol.28, n.1, pp.42-44. Epub June 30, 2025. ISSN 1817-7433.
LIliac artery aneurysms (IAAs) are extremely rare, and descriptions of them occurring in both iliac arteries are even rarer. IAAs are more common in men, with a 7:1 ratio. Their incidence in Bolivia is estimated to be 0.03%.
We present the case of a 75-year-old male patient with heart disease, a pacemaker, and Chagas disease. He presented with a clinical picture of approximately 3 weeks of post-exertional lower back pain. Laboratory results were normal. A CT scan with contrast revealed a bilateral iliac aneurysm. Due to diameters greater than 3 cm and compressive symptoms, open surgery was decided upon. An aorto- bifemoral bypass was performed, which progressed favorably.
Keywords : Aneurysm; iliac aneurysm; vascular graft.
