The advent of globalization and new technologies makes it possible to modify interpersonal relationships and social parameters, virtuality, and social distancing experienced worldwide as a result of the SARS-CoV-2 health crisis allowed us to observe an increase in cases of psychopathologies worldwide, including young university students, creating a serious public health problem. Psychological conditions in adolescents emphasize not only the need to encourage greater discussion on the topic, but this fact was the subject of interest and analysis of the newly enrolled medical students of the private technical university Cosmos, the objective was related to the detection and respective monitoring of cases of anxiety and depression present in medical students in the post- pandemic context.
The socio-critical paradigm with a mixed approach was chosen for the analysis of the problem. The study was descriptive in a synchronous longitudinal period and inductive-deductive inference, with the application of the Hamilton rating scale test for anxiety and depression applied to first semester students in two stages.
The results obtained from the Hamilton test show levels of anxiety and depression with worrying values in the selected sample, the psychological effects vary from depressive disorders, social exclusion, lack of enthusiasm and high levels of stress due to the academic load.
The incorporation of a psycho-pedagogue in the accompaniment is recommended in moderate to severe cases.
