Introduction:
The World Health Organization states that medication-induced abortion is commonly performed through the use of a combination of mifepristone and misoprostol, or solely with misoprostol.
Objective:
To present the knowledge related to drug-induced abortion among university students in a northern Peruvian city.
Methods:
A prospective and cross-sectional study, employing the snowball sampling method. The study had 171 female university students to whom a questionnaire was applied and who agreed to participate voluntarily. The study was conducted from February to July 2021. The participants lived in the city of Chiclayo, Peru.
Results:
We found that most of the university students had low knowledge (49%), 24 students had intermediate knowledge (24%) and only 46 students had good knowledge (27%) regarding the use of misoprostol for pharmacological abortion.
Conclusion:
It is concluded that 27% of students have good knowledge about the use of misoprostol in the city of Chiclayo.
