Introduction:

Coronavirus 19 Disease also affects people with HIV.

Objective:

Analyze the serological status of the infection and the clinical, epidemiological and social characteristics of people with HIV who attend the consultation of the Institute for Human Development, in the city of Cochabamba-Bolivia, management 2020-2021.

Material and method:

Observational-descriptive, prospective-cross-sectional, quantitative, non-experimental study. The serological results of Immunoglobulin M and Immunoglobulin G for Coronavirus 19 disease and the clinical-psychological, epidemiological and social characteristics of 145 people with HIV were analyzed; bivariate analysis was performed to obtain data.

Results:

The seroprevalence of Coronavirus Disease 19 was 27%; 79% are male, 95% are under 60 years of age. 64% of coinfected people belong to the group of men who have sex with other men. 74% were symptomatic cases. The most important symptoms: body aches, fever, anosmia, dry cough, ageusia and red eyes; other comorbidities were present in 23% of the coinfected.

Conclusions:

Symptoms are variable and comorbidities do not influence coinfection or its severity. Age, sex, CD4 T lymphocyte count and HIV viral load are not related to being factors of severity or protection against Coronavirus Disease 19. Long-term follow-up should be carried out to evaluate the sequelae left by this disease.

Keywords : COVID-19; HIV; comorbidity; coinfection; risk factors.
