Rev Cient Cienc Méd [online]. 2021, vol.24, n.2, pp.173-177.  Epub 31-Dic-2021. ISSN 1817-7433.  https://doi.org/10.51581/rccm.v24i2.408.

Wolf Parkinson-White syndrome is a congenital conduction disturbance with a varied clinical presentation ranging from asymptomatic arrhythmias to sudden cardiac death. Its prevalence in the general population ranges from 0.1% to 3%. The pathophysiology of this anomaly is the accessory pathway between the atria and ventricles. In the electrocardiogram it presents short PR intervals, symptoms due to episodes of Supraventricular Tachycardia and/or Atrial Fibrillation and delta wave, which can give us a clear idea of the location of the accessory pathway. Considering the arrhythmic complication in Wolf Parkinson-White, these patients present as Atrioventricular Reentrant Tachycardia, Atrioventricular Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia or wide QRS tachycardia. In acute treatment, the protocols for each type of arrhythmia should be followed. The first-line treatment is ablation of the accessory pathway by radiofrequency catheter.
