Abstract

PICO BERENGUER, Marusela  and  YEVENES BRIONES, Humberto Alejandro. SPEECH DISORDERS IN PARKINSON'S DISEASE. REVIEW. Rev Cient Cienc Méd [online]. 2019, vol.22, n.1, pp.36-42. ISSN 2077-3323.

Up to 90% of patients with Parkinson's disease eventually have speech disorders during the course of the disease, which are known as hypokinetic or parkinsonian dysarthria. This work aims to summarize and clarify the current evidence on speech disorders in Parkinson's disease. It deals with different aspects: characteristics, anatomophysiological bases, diagnosis and treatment of them. In conclusion, it is observed in the existing literature that acoustic analysis could act as an objective and non-invasive diagnostic marker in Parkinson's disease, even in prodromal stages. This would facilitate early diagnosis and treatment, increasing the quality of life of people with Parkinson's disease.

Keywords : Body Parkinson d¡sease; speech disorders; dysarthria.
