Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer in women world wide, which determines high mortality rates in countries withlow and middle in comes. The objective of the study was to determine the level of know ledge, attitude and practice of breast self-examination in student sat different levels of Universidad Mayor de San Simón medical school.This was a cross-sectional study, in a universe of 1050 female students and a sample of 200 of them, 40 students per year of study. Data collection was done through an anonymous surveyof 13 questions. Results: Majority of the respondents, 50.5% were in the age range 20-22 years, 91% know the process of self-examination, 71% practices self-examination, 99% think it is very important; 44% reported the same through the health personnel and 63.4% preferred to perform it in the mirror. Itis there fore concluded that there was a high level of know ledge about breast self-examination a mong respondents, their attitudeto ward it was positive, but the practice was poor. These data could be used to provide or improve academic lectures to students and general public about the importance of breast self-examination in the early diagnosis of breast disease.
