Kidney transplant since 1954, when was made the first successful kidney transplant in identical twins in "Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, until now is considered as the best alternative for patients with advanced chronic kidney disease, because not only restores the health of patient with kidney disease, but reintroduces it to the social, occupational, and even physical activities. The Kidney transplant is an effective treatment, very expensive in our area, but accessible and cheaper in relation to the fmancing required to maintain a patient on hemodialysis. Currently, kidney transplant is practiced in many hospitals around the world with great results, so the purpose of this review is to give information about the selection ofdonor and recipient, transplant contraindications, treatment pre-and post-transplant and complications that may arise.
