This essay explores science communication in Bolivia with the goal of expanding public knowledge and understanding of the topic. It incorporates references to scientific culture, science communication, popularization of science, the appropriation of science, and the dialogue of knowledge, as reflected in current regulations. The government body responsible for managing science communication is the Viceministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología, under the Ministerio de Planificación del Desarrollo. The country hosts museums, observatories, interactive centers, parks, citizen groups, universities, and science and technology institutions that showcase a range of initiatives and employ innovative strategies for science outreach. However, significant challenges remain, including terminological inconsistencies, lack of coordination and sustained funding, and the predominance of a unidirectional communication deficit model. A process of analysis and coordination is therefore crucial to fully harness the potential of science outreach for national development.
