This article addresses the importance of research skills in the field of Communication. The professional profiles of Communication majors in Cochabamba universities are examined, assessing their correspondence with the demands of employers, considering staffing systems. The methodology includes a bibliographic review and interviews with academic staff and employers from companies, institutions and public entities.

The results demonstrate that investigative skills allow obtaining relevant information, identifying trends and needs of the target audience, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of communication strategies. The contrasts between the approaches of universities and the demands of employers are identified, highlighting the importance of research for decision making, economic growth and the generation of knowledge in society. Scientific research is positioned as a key factor for innovation and development in various professional and social fields; Therefore, it offers an advantage for job access and promotion.
