Abstract

VASQUEZ MEJIAS, Ainhoa. When heroes fail. From police TV Series to "Narcos" series. Punto Cero [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.31, pp.99-110. ISSN 1815-0276.

The increasing distrust in Latin American government institutions, coupled with the political corruption and the strong bonds of States with drug trafficking, have caused a change in the literature and on television. The detective genre in Latin America has given way to the call neopolicial, as well as, currently; police TV series have become narcoseries. Both cultural products account for a society in decline, where there are no heroes or villains but citizens struggling to survive in a hostile world.

Keywords : Police TV Series; Narcoseries; Neopolicial; Crime; Mexico.
