Western beauty standards play an important role in our society, being a pattern to follow by millions of young people. It is due to the presence of these certain standards of beauty that the numbers of cases related to eating disorders have increased in recent years. Many factors contribute to the manifestation of eating disorders, among the most important are those that through cultural practices and culture that can transmit messages influential manifestation of anorexia. The objective of this research is to identify what is the relationship between beauty standards that are present in our cultural practices and habitus, and symbolic violence with which these diseases manifest, in order to identify whether are decisive in manifesting anorexia in young of Panama. To carry out the study identification space to the village of Bellavista, located in Panama City, Panama was delimited. Both, qualitative and quantitative methodology are employed through interviews, focus groups and surveys respectively.
