Abstract

OSPINA DEAZA, Juan Camilo. Good to Think: A Structural Analysis of the Star Wars Myth. Punto Cero [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.30, pp.65-76. ISSN 1815-0276.

In this article, we propose a methodology to analyze contemporary cultural film productions inspired by the structuralistic approach of Claude Lévi-Strauss. We will take as the material of analysis the narration of the saga “Star Wars”, understanding it as a myth. The way in which we will drive the analysis includes the recompilation of the myth and the fabrication/development of a theoretical and methodological frame. This approach will lead us to consider the validity of the myth’s structural analysis as applied to Star Wars and will establish a method that may be used with other contemporary virtual narratives

Keywords : Lévi-Strauss; structuralism; myth; movies; science fiction.
