Abstract In 1995 the Fourth World Conference on the Woman was celebrated in Beijing. There, twelve critical areas were established as impediment for the citizenship of the women. In this work we check specifically recounted to the social responsibility of the mass media for the diffusion of roles and stereotypes of women and males who result in obstacles in this way. For our discussion we continue Simone de Beauvoir's tracks in all that her Second Sex, which serve us, as a guide in mirror to analyze the speeches that prevail in the printing press, the topics that there turn out to be controversial and the strategies opened by the different means for the reinforcement / restoration of a traditional vision of the role of the women in the society.
